The six categories
Evidence: a checkable source and method, with limits stated. Opinion: a judgment, however confidently phrased. Unsupported assertion: a factual claim with nothing behind it. Sales pitch: the claim exists to move you toward a purchase. Manufactured urgency: pressure to decide before you think. Appeal to authority: who said it is offered in place of why it’s true.
